Tyson Hall is a directors ideal actor, well rounded,
knowledgeable, visually expressive but most of all extremely
talented. His professionalism has elevated his worth and given
him work with respected directors, C.D.'s and actors, such as,
Charles Stone III and Susan Smith on the film
"PAID IN FULL", John Leguizamo, (EMPIRE)
and Jessie Terrero, director of Soul Plane.
Tyson is a native New Yorker; his roots run deep into the pulse
of the NY cultural/theater scene. His love for fashion/music/dance
drew him to the stage as a model and dancer. Once there he gravitated
toward theatrical productions with a growing interest in drama.
At that time he was attending John Jay College pursuing a career
in Law. However, after Graduating John Jay and realizing that
his real passion was for the Arts, Tyson, threw himself into
developing his newly found talent.
Initially he studied with James Pringle of The Harlem Theater
Company, Scene Study with Tony Greco and Sense
Memory with Susan Batson. Tyson gained experience at The
Nuyerican Café and Theater 22 where he worked
with outstanding writers Amiri Baraka and Ishmeel Reed.
He began auditioning for film and booked his first television
credit as a guest star on New York Undercover. Like most
serious actors Tyson felt that he had to make the Pilgrimage
to California. He relocated there and booked roles on Moesha
and the Larry Miller film KING CON. He also worked
alongside Delroy Lindel and Tommy Davis. Hollywood
became home for him and the next two years were filled with
intensive study and work. While there Tyson was offered an opportunity
to write and develop his own film entitled A CALLING.
He also ran an acting troop called "Endangered Reindeers".
On his return to New York, Tyson booked a recurring role
on the HBO series OZ. Since then Tyson Hall's resume
reflects his consistent work and on going training. His resume
also shows the experience he has gained while working on the
New York Theater, the National Theater, Film
and Television.
His most challenging role is that of Tony Dayton, a tragic clown
faced with overwhelming fear in the short film THE KITE
screened at The Urban World Film Festival and The Roxbury Film
Festival.
His comical role of Malik in the short film, THE CLINIC directed
by Jessie Terrero and featured at the 2003 SUNDANCE FILM
Festival opened Tyson's eyes to a whole new character trait,
people find him hilarious. This film toured the Film
Festival circuit with overwhelming response to Tyson's portrayal
of Malik, a young man who is well aware of the symptoms of S.T.D.'s
and the best way to take care of them "on the low".
Tyson Hall is presently enrolled at City College's Theater Program
where he is completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
He is also organizing the 2005 SOL Film Festival in Virginia.
As one of the creators and producers of this festival he is
extremely proud of the quality of projects committed so far
and looks forward to the exposure it will bring to filmmakers.
